Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol is literally everywhere, and socially accepted in most place. It can make the alcoholic pause when determining if they have a problem. However, in addition to negative impacts on the health of those who consume it, people who have escalated to substance abuse or addiction face life-changing consequences. While alcohol may have once helped a person to relax, sleep better or find comfort in social settings – it has now developed into a lifestyle that is robbing them from any joy. Prolonged alcohol abuse begins to have the opposite of desired effects, including restless nights, anxiety, and depression. Alcohol also possesses serious health risk when abused, from high blood pressure to liver problems.

The Harsh Reality of Alcohol Addiction among Veterans, First Responders & Military

Because alcohol is so widely available, and mostly socially acceptable, many view problem drinking as a minor issue. However, with time, problems mount. Potential legal jeopardies such as DUI/DWI can occur. Family problems, marriage trouble and parental struggles develop. Withdraw from social settings and isolation are both signs of trouble.

Like drug addiction, alcohol abuse and addiction begin to change the chemistry in your body and your brain. Feeling foggy, or hazy until the next drink is common. Without help, addiction to alcohol has life-altering, potentially fatal risks.
