Family Reunification

Family Reunification

Reunification therapy, a form of family therapy, aims to mend strained familial relationships, primarily focusing on reuniting or reestablishing a connection between a parent and child, although it can be applicable to any strained relationship within a family. The therapy emphasizes the importance of attachment, healthy communication, and healing past wounds within the relationship. Its primary objective is to rebuild trust between the parties involved, necessitating a flexible pace tailored to the most resistant individual. While initial steps can be taken during a client’s admission to our facility, ongoing treatment and sessions are often required for effective progress. The child’s pace becomes crucial in allowing the therapy to unfold successfully and achieve the ultimate goal of reestablishing trust between the parent and child. Although reunification therapy incorporates techniques from other family therapy approaches, it also incorporates specific emphases unique to this type of therapy.
